Thomas H. Nielsen is the President of The Nielsen Company, a home-based real estate consulting firm he established in 1991. In the 1990s, he served as Managing Director and then Consulting Director of US Trust of California, an investment management and private banking firm. In 1978, Mr. Nielsen joined The Irvine Company, and held several positions, including President and Vice Chairman. He has since remained active with The Irvine Company as a Director Emeritus. Mr. Nielsen earned his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Washington, and his M.B.A. from Stanford University. He has served on the boards of many companies, including Avalon Bay Communities and Candlewood Hotel Company, Inc. At UCI, Mr. Nielsen, is an active member and past Chair of The UCI Foundation Board of Trustees. He currently serves on the foundation’s Audit, Chair Advisory and Donor Relations committees, in addition to serving on the School of Social Sciences and the School of Humanities Dean’s Leadership Councils. He is a Founding Member of the UCI Chief Executive Roundtable, Daniel G. Aldrich, Jr. Society, and the Bren Events Center. For his dedication to UC Irvine, Mr. Nielsen was honored with The UCI Medal in 1995.
