Catherine (Cathy) Van Camp is a graduate of UCI in social science (1976) and Northern Arizona University in accounting (1977). She became a CPA and started her career at the IRS, then worked in public accounting. Cathy joined Northern Trust Company in 1984 and retired in 2009 as a Senior Vice President. She managed estate tax services, and rotated through a number of roles including many major national trust initiatives. While at UCI, Cathy took full advantage of being a “Junior Fellow,” earning that distinction as a sophomore. Among her more memorable student adventures was living at “the Farm,” an anthropology experiment and commune, and also hosting fellow students as they practiced anthropology in Empalme, Mexico. Cathy treasures her four grandchildren, three of whom live in Finland where her oldest son settled. Cathy has been active in numerous charities. Favorite efforts include medical and educational work in Ghana, support of CPA related projects, work with the homeless, juvenile justice, and with community leadership development. Her current passion is supporting her oldest granddaughter’s adventures in theater, academic decathlon and color guard at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. Cathy is divorced, residing in Huntington Beach, CA with her granddaughter and her Japanese Chin “Ju Ju.” She is a tax preparer with a small firm. Cathy’s hobbies are reading, walking, constantly improving her home and garden, and dreaming of publishing something eventually.
